Additional details

Located between Bordeaux and Saint Emilion, in the heart of the Entre-Deux-Mers,
The Camarsac fortress, built on a hill and surrounded by its vineyards, is one of the
Bordeaux's most incredible and enchanting places. Like Saint-Émilion, Camarsac boasts incredible stone quarries, which were used to build Bordeaux.
A real castle, a real story: on February 15, 1312, Edward II, King of England, authorized the construction of Camarsac Castle. It owes its nickname "Black Prince's Castle" to the famous Prince of Wales. Captured and occupied during the Hundred Years' War by a garrison led by Du Guesclin, who devastated
the region, was besieged and dismantled by Bordeaux in
1377. On October 24, 1409, Henry IV Plantagenet, King of
England takes a decree at Westminster which reveals that the castle was already producing wine. On July 28,
1680, under Louis XIV, the castle was reunited with the French
Crown.
The perseverance of its owners, the Canteloup family, allowed the estate to rise from ruins; their descendants, the Ceres family, occupied the property for six centuries, gradually transforming the austere fortress into a majestic spectacle.
Purchased by Lucien Lurton, owner of Brane-Cantenac and other famous châteaux, Camarsac in 1973, reviving his vineyards in the Entre-Deux-Mers.
Since 2007, his son Thierry Lurton has enthusiastically taken over the reins of the family-owned company. History is an integral part of the pleasure of Camarsac wines.

Camarsac's most traditional cuvée. It's made in the same way as Entre-Deux-Mers, the region's most prized wines. The grapes are harvested when the skins are fully ripe, and maceration is lengthy, followed by aging in oak. Crafted with attention to tannins, our Vieilles Vignes can be enjoyed young but will reveal greater complexity over time, for those who can
Wait. To achieve this goal, we select the areas of our different terroirs where the
the grape skins have had the best opportunity to ripen, usually terroirs with fertile soil and old vines.

Tasting note:
The color is dark and intense. The nose is fresh, with aromas of red and black fruits. The palate is rounded and structured. The finish is persistent and slightly spicy.
