Additional details

Located between Bordeaux and Saint Emilion, in the heart of the
In the Entre-Deux-Mers region, Camarsac, a fortress perched on a promontory surrounded by vineyards, is one of the most striking and enchanting places in the Bordeaux region.
Built in the 14th century on the site of an 11th-century fortified house, it owes its nickname of "Black Prince's Castle" to the famous Prince of Wales. Captured and occupied
during the Hundred Years' War by a garrison of Du Guesclin who was ravaging the region, it was besieged and dismantled by the Bordeaux people in 1377. The tenacity of its owners, the Canteloup family, allowed its foundation from its ruins, and their descendants, the de Gères family, occupied it for six centuries, gradually transforming the austere fortress into a pleasant place of
residence. Lucien Lurton, owner of Brane-Cantenac and other famous wines, purchased it in 1973, thus reconnecting with his roots in the Entre-Deux-Mers region. Since 2007, his son, Thierry Lurton, has enthusiastically taken over
on the reins of ownership.
