GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION

The grapes come from the municipality of Novello, at an altitude of 360 meters above sea level; this area benefits from a marl-clay composition with good permeability and excellent southern exposure.

The Cerviano Merli cru stands out for its innate elegance, soft tannins, and pleasantness.

VINEYARDS AND SYSTEM
The vineyard is planted with Nebbiolo (10% Michet, 80% Lampia, and 10% Rosé) with clonal material of Italian origin. The Guyot training system employs 4,700 vines per hectare. The harvest took place on October 10, 2016.

The yield was particularly low, 60 hl/ha.

TECHNOLOGICAL NOTE

Traditional submerged cap vinification for twenty-five days, with daily pumping over and regular punching down, at a temperature of 30°C to aid color extraction; then, after a two-month stay in steel tanks, the wine was racked off and aged for approximately 60 months in French oak barrels, before being bottled in an underground cellar at a constant temperature of approximately 16°C.

WINE CHARACTER

Ruby red in color with brick-red highlights, the nose offers a delightful aroma of cherries in alcohol, wild berry jam, and a hint of white pepper, typical of these crus and the Novello terroir. The complex nose is followed by a warm palate with hints of vanilla, extraordinarily soft and enveloping, with sweet, complex tannins. The spice also returns on the palate, blending with the fruit in an unparalleled elegance for a stunning vintage like 2016.
