Grapes: Primitivo 100%

Origin of the grape variety: The history of Primitivo is lost in the mists of time. It likely arrived in Italy from the other side of the Adriatic by the Illyrians, a people from the Balkan region dedicated to growing grapes. The first reliable historical documents on the variety date back to the second half of the 18th century, when a clergyman, Don Francesco Filippo Indellicati, priest of the church of Gioia del Colle, noticed that among the many grape varieties in his vineyards, there was one that ripened early and produced particularly dark, sweet, and flavorful grapes. Indellicati selected these vines and planted the first single-varietal vineyard of "Primitivo" (at the time it was also called "Primaticcio").

In the Vineyard
Soil: Medium texture – calcareous
Altitude and exposure: Orsogna 432m above sea level
Training system: Abruzzo pergola
Harvest: Manual

In the Cellar
Vinification: Maceration on the skins lasts approximately 10 days. During this period, the wine also completes alcoholic fermentation at a temperature no higher than 24°C. It is then transferred to stainless steel barrels where malolactic fermentation is completed. It is then aged for a further 6 months in the bottle.
