Additional details

Grape variety:
100% Montepulciano

Origin and history of the vine:
The Peligna valley is the birthplace of the grape variety, with written records dating back to the mid-1700s. Since the post-war period, its cultivation has spread to the entire coastal hilly area, and today it is the main grape variety in the Abruzzo region.

It is a plant that can grow both in inland mountainous areas and on hills, all the way up to the coastal areas.

Growing area:
Orsogna 440m above sea level – 16 km from the Adriatic Sea and 16 km from the Maiella.

In the vineyard:
Cultivated using a pergola system (awning or Abruzzo pergola), the training system that best restores the vine's natural vegetative development.

Inside the huts, on a horizontal wire roof, the vine grows harmoniously and naturally, its leaves soaking up the wind and sun.

A non-mechanized form of cultivation, it relies heavily on the manual skills and experience of the winemaker. Vine cultivation in huts will persist as long as the small peasant property survives.

In the cellar
100% Demeter biodynamic grapes.

Winemaking:
Spontaneous fermentation works with what nature offers each year and relies on the strength and health of the land and the vineyard to obtain grapes rich in yeasts essential for fermentation in the cellar.

Spontaneous fermentation is the essential condition for creating a wine capable of capturing the authentic flavors of a region.

SULPHITES Demeter biodynamic wine limit = red wine max 70 mg/lt

TARTARIC STABILIZATION Only natural refrigeration
FILTRATION Sterile filtration is not permitted

Refinement:
Concrete and bottle tubs.
