Founded in Sakurao, Hatsukaichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture, in 1918,
We have been passing down our distillation techniques for over 100 years .

Founded in 2017 and opened in 2018, Sakurao Distillery presents its first single malt distilled and aged in the Hiroshima region on the Seto Inland Sea.
Crafted from a combination of ex-bourbon casks, first-use American oak casks, ex-sherry casks and new mizunara (Japanese oak) casks.

Sakurao Distillery is located in Hatsukaichi City, with the Seto Inland Sea to the south and the Chugoku Mountains to the north . The Sakurao warehouse within the distillery is exposed to warm sea breezes and cool mountain breezes , creating a noticeable temperature range throughout the year. This temperature difference accelerates the maturation of the whisky. Furthermore, because the warehouse is seaward-facing, the delicate salty aroma of the Seto Inland Sea delicately diffuses into the aging barrels . The aroma of raisins, oranges, and peaches wafts through, with a vanilla sweetness and just the right amount of astringency and acidity. Enjoy the pleasant smokiness, the aroma of the barrel, and the rich, sweet aroma that lingers.

On the nose , fruity notes of grape , peach, and orange are evident. On the palate, it is enveloping and soft, with notes of vanilla and apple . The finish is fruity and slightly smoky . It is not cold-filtered and does not contain any added colorings.
