Nose: Toasted oak and a touch of musk, creamy lemon and smooth malt.

Palate: Brown sugar, burnt oak again (now with a touch of earthiness), lime marmalade.

Finish: rye bread and a touch of bitter grapes.

Kura rum cask finish is a Japanese whiskey produced by the Helios distillery in Okinawa.

The company is famous and appreciated above all for its rums and its awamori, this whisky is produced in very limited quantities by blending malts aged from 3 to 18 years in American barrels and then aged in ex-rum barrels owned by the company.

Whisky has been produced in very small quantities since the 1950s. In the early 1990s, the Asahi Group
who also owns Nikka, purchased the distillery and has since only produced whiskies for certain Nikka blends.

This special bottling was only available in northern Japan, Hokkaido, in select shops. An absolute rarity for any collector.

Recommended pairings

Excellent paired with smoked meats. It also pairs well with dark chocolate.
