Arran distillery Single Malts are typically fresh, sweet and unpeated, but the Machrie Moor series is an exception:
This is a bold, peaty whisky . The peat comes from Machrie Moor, one of the oldest and most mysterious bogs on the island.
Whisky matured in ex-Bourbon casks before being bottled ( without chill filtering or addition of colorants ) and directly from the cask with an alcohol volume of
56.2% without being diluted with water.
The peat level is medium (20ppm).
TASTING NOTES
On the nose, there are hints of peat , dried fruit, freshly baked bread , citrus, and vanilla . On the palate, it is robust and sweet, with notes of vanilla , tropical fruit, pineapple, coconut, lemon, and tobacco.
The finish is long and peaty with notes of fruit, honey, vanilla and tobacco.
