Additional details

THE 2003 VINTAGE

A vintage characterised by an averagely rainy winter.

Spring, marked by several showers, was followed by a very hot and dry summer during which significant restorative rainfall was recorded in the second half of August. The harvest began on September 4th, the first time ever that the harvest has begun so early.

THE ORIGIN

The 2003 Brunello was produced with the Sangiovese Grosso clone BBS11 (Brunello Biondi Santi 11), identified and selected by Biondi-Santi at Tenuta Greppo in the 1970s.

For this Brunello, grapes from vines older than 10 years were used, including the older ones usually used for the production of Riserva.

THE REFINEMENT

The 2003 Brunello was aged for 3 years in Slavonian oak barrels.

It was able to benefit from a very long aging in the bottle.

Recommended pairings

Excellent paired with game dishes. It also pairs well with roast veal and pork.

Serving temperature

Serve in a red wine glass at 18/20°C. We recommend decanting half an hour before serving.
