The son decides to restart rum production with the help of two master blenders, Sandra Reatigui and Judith Ramirez.

It is produced from the distillation of molasses and rests for 8 years in American oak barrels at the Coloma company at 1700 metres above sea level.

Additional details

The Constain family is the creator of Coloma Rum in 1959. Alberto Constain Medina became the owner of the “hacienda” built in the late 19th century in the village of Fusagasuga in central Colombia.

Initially they grow coffee, called Coloma, a few years later they produce a liquor with the same name which becomes very popular throughout the country.

Although it was his dream to open a rum distillery, at the time it was not permitted under Colombian law.

In 2005 the law changed and distillation in private companies was permitted.

The son decides to restart rum production with the help of two Colombian master blenders, Sandra Reatigui and Judith Ramirez.

Coloma is produced from the distillation of molasses, it rests for 8 years in oak barrels that have previously contained bourbon and finishes its refinement for 6 to 12 months in barrels used for the storage of the coffee liqueur of the same name.

Recommended pairings

Excellent paired with dark chocolate desserts and coffee. It also pairs well with dried fruit and aged cheeses.
